How
many people does each entrée serve?
Each entrée serves 4-6 adults, depending on their appetites.
If this is too much food for your family, feel free to split
entrées into two meals serving 2-3. Some items such as crock
pot meals don’t split well. We provide both small and large pans
in our kitchen and you are free to use whichever best suits
your family. You don’t need to select full or split-size orders
ahead of time. When you arrive at your session just decide
as you go.
How many meals a month does each session make?
That will depend on how many entrées you choose and how many
servings of each entrée you make. Many of our customers make
12 entrées, with each entrée serving six: that totals 72 servings.
How much freezer space will I need?
We find that about one shelf of a regular freezer should hold
12 entrées, each designed to serve six. Because your entrées
are already assembled and ready to cook, with no more bulky
bags of ingredients, you may find that you actually gain freezer
space!
How can Make and Take Gourmet save me money?
Because of our buying power, Make and Take Gourmet can substantially
cut your food budget, while still saving you time and energy!
And when you factor in the extensiveness of your grocery list for all
the ingredients of 12 main course meals, the waste of unused ingredients,
and the time to shop, chop and clean up, there is no doubt what a savings
and convenience this really is.
Will this really save time?
Let’s see…the average drive to the grocery store is ten
minutes…the average stop at the grocery store is 45 minutes…the
average time for unloading and putting away the groceries is 15 minutes…the
average time for food preparation is 45 minutes…the average clean-up
time is 15 minutes…and that was just for dinner for one night.
What can you do with an extra two hours each day?
Will my kids like the food?
Make and Take Gourmet entrées are aimed at satisfying a wide
variety of tastes. Our menus are all taste-tested first in
our own homes. Our families and our children give our recipes
thumbs up before we place them on our menus. And the beauty
of custom creating your own meals is that you’ll be able to make sure that each recipe comes out
just the way your family likes it! Modify the recipe to suit the taste
of your family. If you like extra cheese, add more. If you don’t
like onions, leave them out.
How is the food packaged?
Make and Take Gourmet will provide the aluminum pans needed
to bake or broil your entrées. Zip-Loc Bags will be provided
for recipes that will later be cooked as barbecues, in your
crock-pot, or on the stovetop. After assembling your entrée
and choosing the appropriate container, you will then cover
it, (or "zip" it), label it
with easy-to-follow cooking directions and place it in your
cooler or box to be taken home and cooked or frozen for cooking
later.
What do I need to bring?
You’ll need to bring a cooler (or boxes or laundry baskets) to
transport your incredible meals home. You’ll want to wear comfortable
clothing and especially comfortable shoes, but we’ll provide the
aprons and plastic gloves. Make and Take Gourmet will also
provide all the packaging needs for your meals.
What if I come right from work and am starving?
Don’t worry. We want this to be a fun experience. You’ll
always find a snack waiting for you at Make and Take Gourmet,
along with coffee and water. Feel free to bring a bottle
of wine or a beverage of your choice with you.
How do I thaw and cook my meals at home?
Make and Take Gourmet will send you home with a list of the
meals you prepared. Attach the list to your freezer with one
of our attractive Make and Take Gourmet magnets.
Once a week, check your list, decide what you’d like to eat that week and pull those entrées out of the freezer to defrost in your refrigerator until you’re ready to cook them. Cross off the meals as you use them. When you start to get low it’s time for you to make an appointment for your next session.
When you’re ready to enjoy your fabulous entrée, simply follow the easy directions on the label.
What if I want to reserve a session for a private party?
Make and Take Gourmet hosts a wide variety of private functions.
We love to see Bunko groups, baby/bridal showers, girl’s night
out, corporate team building events, couple nights or just
about any gathering. We know how much fun a session can be
with your friends! We will be happy to reserve a session for you and
your friends.
To reserve your private party space, begin by going to the website to choose a date and time from the calendar. Then call us with your request, and we'll go from there. If there is not a convenient time and date on the calendar we’ll be happy to schedule a special session for you. There is no additional charge for reserving your private party; however, you do need to fill the session with at least 10 participants. Make and Take Gourmet will provide the party coordinator with their session at half price.
What if I don’t have time to attend a session?
We realize how busy you are, so here at Make and Take Gourmet,
we have Personal Chefs who are available to assemble your entrées
for you for a small additional charge. Your entrées will be
assembled and ready for you to pick up at a convenient time.
What if I can’t make it to my session?
We understand that things come up so we’d be happy to
reschedule you for another date or change your order to include
To Go service. Because your food is preordered based on your
session reservation, a two-day notice is required to change
your kitchen date. To change your order to To Go service just
call us up the day of your scheduled session.
How often does the menu change?
Our menu changes monthly. Except for a few “favorites” which
may be repeated as often as every few months, you will have
the opportunity to always try new things. If you really liked
one of the meals and would like to have it repeated, just let
us know and we will do the best we can.
How and when do I pay for my session?
You may pay with your major credit card online or over the
phone when you place your order. Or stop into the kitchen to
pay by check or cash a couple of days before your session.
What
if my family has a favorite meal…can I order more than
one of the same dish?
Yes, you may select up to two of any item.
How long does a session last?
Typical sessions last between 1 1/2 - 2 hours. This all depends
on the number of menu items you’re making and the speed at which
you work. We don’t want you to rush! We want you to enjoy your
time with us. You’ll be surprised how quickly your meals go together.
It will only take 5-10 minutes to make an entire entrée.
What if I’d like to split a session with another person?
Make and Take Gourmet is happy to let two persons share a session.
Because space is at a premium, we only ask that if we have
a full session you stay together at each recipe station or
only have one person attend and do the actual assembling. There
is no additional fee for split sessions. If you’re splitting
meals with a friend only one of you needs to order the menu
selections.
How can Make and Take Gourmet help my group with fundraising?
Make and Take Gourmet is a community-based business, focusing
on increasing the quality of life for our customers. To that
end, we look forward to supporting the local teams, churches,
and clubs that support us!
We have a program called “Cooking for Dollars” to help us support your group’s fundraising efforts. Contact Make and Take Gourmet to set up a fundraising account for your group (so we know whom to send the check to). We will provide your organization with promotional cards. You distribute the cards, and for each one of your cards that comes back to us with your group’s identification as a paid full session, we’ll donate $10 to your group. It’s that easy! Fundraising never tasted so good!
Can I bring my kids?
We encourage and welcome you to bring your kids with you to help make your meals. Cooking with your child is a great chance to spend some quality time together – and they really enjoy it. We’ve also found that the kids get excited about trying new foods. There is no age limit for kids coming in, but it is easier for them if they are tall enough to be able to see into the food stations.
